Airtel, Axis Bank team up to offer mobile banking services

HARYANA: Telecom company Bharti Airtel said its subsidiary, Airtel mCommerce Services, and Axis Bank have partnered to offer banking and payment services, especially to India's unbanked population.
"No-frills savings account of Axis Bank will be opened for customers on the Airtel Money platform called Airtel Money Super Account powered by Axis Bank, offering customers banking transactions, including cash deposit, money transfer and withdrawal," the company said in a statement.

Intel plans to get 'inside' cars in India

HYDERABAD: Intel Corporation is in talks with Indian car makers to introduce a new 'in-vehicle infotainment' (IVI) system in passenger cars.
B Suryanarayanan, Director, Sales (South), Intel South Asia, said the dual display system of the IVI will have two screens on the dashboard; for driver and the passengers.
"I cannot tell when the system will be available in India. We are talking to various automobile companies," Suryanarayanan told reporters here.

Kudankulam nuclear plant a step closer to going on stream

CHENNAI: The first unit of the protest-hit nuclear power project at Kudankulam is about to be commissioned. Officials have initiated the process to remove its dummy fuel. 

The Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project (KNPP) moved closer to going on stream as officials began the process to open the reactor's pressure vessel, its inspection and removal of dummy fuel. 

Karnataka to handover land to Infosys, Wipro by month-end

BANGALORE: Karnataka Industries Minister Murugesh Nirani said the government by month-end would hand over land to Infosysand Wipro to set up their development centres in the city. 

"By month-end, we will clear all hurdles in handing over the land to the concerned IT companies," he told reporters on the sidelines of Southern Regional Council Meeting of Confederation of Indian Industry here. 

During the last Global Investors Meet (GIM), Infosys and Wipro had signed MoUs with the government to set up development centres in the state. 

Huawei, Intel to set up China lab in Kolkata

KOLKATA: Chinese telecoms gearmaker Huawei and US chipmaker Intel Corp have teamed up to sup a laboratory in China for interoperability testing and faster deployments of LTE TDD -- the technology platform for 4G wireless broadband services.
"Huawei has been committed to LTE TDD commercial deployment worldwide," said Deng Taihua, Huawei's president LTE TDD & WiMAX & TDS wireless networks, said in a media statement. "We are excited to partner with Intel to accelerate the development of our technology and provide customers with leading LTE TDD solutions."
