Amity Institute of Information Technology in association with Computer Society of India started a 3 days International Conference on “Reliability Infocom Technologies and Optimization” ICRITO-2013 from 29th Jan to 31st Jan 2013 at AMITY University Campus, Noida.
The Conference was inaugurated by Sh. Manish Tewari (Unioin Minister of State, Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India), Dr. Ashok K. Chauhan (Founder & President – Amity Group), and Mr. Satish Babu (President – Computer Society of India).
While addressing the gathering Sh. Manish Tewari emphasized on Public-Private partnership in Education industry. He said, that the social media has grown massively in last 5 years and if we calculate there are more than 7 crore users who are using the Facebook, Twitter, linkedin etc. However, the regulations have not kept pace with rapid technological development, he added.
The inaugural session was preceded by Technical Sessions on “Innovation, Education and Open Source: Future Directions for India” held by Mr. Satish Babu, President-CSI, Prof. William Zhu-Minjianf, Director key lab of Granular Computing, Zhangzhou Normal University –Chine also shared their views.
Inaugural ceremony was followed by a Panel Discussion on the theme “Cyber Crime and Laws” which was moderated by Mr. Talwant Singh, Addl. District & Session Judge – Delhi, Mr. Pavan Duggal, Advocate – Supreme Court of India and Dr. Anup Girdhar, CEO-Founder –Sedulity Solutions & Technologies, presented their views on Cyber Crimes from Law and Technical aspect.
It was a medley of Technology, Law and Indian Information Technology Act, when Mr. Pavan Duggal, Advocate – Supreme Court of India and Dr. Anup Girdhar, CEO-Founder –Sedulity Solutions & Technologies shared their experience with the Audience. Mr. Talwant Singh, Addl. District & Session Judge – Delhi, shared few case studies to make people aware of Cyber Crimes and warn the computer users not to share their passwords with anyone as it could lead them towards sleepless nights.
Mr. Duggal pointed out the relevance of Section 66A of Information Technology Act, and explained that how the negative statements passed by anybody could become offence when it is used through a medium of Computers, Phones, Gadgets etc. and when it is proved in the court of law there is an imprisonment of 3 years with fine too. Dr. Girdhar enlighten the Audience with Technical challenges faced during the ‘Cyber Crime Investigation’ and explain the concept of Data Theft and MAC Spoofing which is the biggest loophole in Technology.
The conference helps the entire audience to make them understand the need of Cyber Security and its education which is must from the very basic level. There should be proper Training which has to be given from the school level to make the new generation aware of such Computer Crimes.
